Gaby Bissett is joined by Stevie Potter, a dentist, performance coach and triathlete representing Great Britain.
In this episode of the Dentistry Podcast, Stevie talks through her journeys into both dentistry and triathlon, and how she balances her time between the two very different interests.
Stevie has a fierce belief in personalising goal setting, which she says has helped her to get to where she is today, as well as taking time out away from the job.
‘Unfortunately, I’ve come across a lot of clinicians who don’t look after themselves,’ she says.
‘I really think it shows in their day-to-day work. If you talk to the people around them who they work with, you can see that stress really gets to people. And in the world that we work in now in dentistry especially, it’s so important to manage that.
‘We know that time and time again, exercise – particularly outdoors – even if it’s just walking, is really, really important. If I have a few days where I can’t train for whatever reason, that is totally noticeable!’
