The Mouth Cancer Foundation has announced that a group of students from King’s College Dental school raised the highest amount of money for its 10km walk.
The team of 11 students, called KCL Walkabout, raised £1,451.29.
The walk took place on 20 September 2014 in London’s Hyde Park.
Team leader Puja Jethwa said: ‘I would strongly encourage anyone to take part in the Mouth Cancer 10KM Awareness Walk as it was a brilliant event. We walked with people who have survived mouth cancer, heard their stories and met their friends and families.’
The team consisted of fellow King’s students: Alice Harman, Rachel McCartney, Kevin Huynh, Jess Ak-hye, Maya Amlani, Farima Mehrabi, Tessmin Ooi, Sabrina Datu, Altaz Dagha and Marc Burton.
They also won a course of 10 reiki sessions courtesy of Nirvana Spirit.
Dr Vinod Joshi, founder of the Mouth Cancer Foundation commented: ‘The Mouth Cancer 10KM Awareness Walk has once again been a great success for the charity. All funds raised go towards helping improve the support for mouth cancer sufferers and their families, as well as increasing the public’s awareness about mouth cancer.’
