We spoke to Dr George Cheetham about the highlight of his career so far and his ambitions for the future.
Please introduce yourself
I am Dr George Cheetham. I am a private dentist and I have a couple of clinics in south west London opened up – one 18 months ago and I’m opening up a new one at the moment.
What do you get up to in your spare time?
Spare time… to be honest, at the moment I don’t really have much spare time. It’s kind of dentistry, dentistry, dentistry. I’m opening up the clinic, growing the clinics, I still do five clinical days myself and do some lecturing. So spare time doesn’t really exist.
How did you get into dentistry?
Getting into dentistry, I think, is more of a kind of luck than judgement thing. To be honest, I don’t think at 16 anyone really knows what they want to do for their career pathway.
So because I’ve done science as a background – I did work experience in my medicine, dentistry, veterinary sciences – I picked dentistry and it’s working out alright
What has been the highlight of your career?
So a highlight of my career… You know, every year brings something else and I think that highlights at the time change.
But what I’m really enjoying the moment is the growth of my practises, getting a really fantastic team of specialists around me to provide dentistry to patients that I feel that that they deserve.
What are your dreams and ambitions for the future?
My dreams and ambitions for the future… I would like to grow my clinics basically.
I always want to add on to the portfolio so I can end up with maybe 10 or 15 practices in the future.
