Ian Brack has been announced as the permanent chief executive and registrar for the General Dental Council (GDC).
Replacing Evlynne Gilvarry on an interim basis since January, Ian has now been offered the role on a permanent basis starting from Monday 16 May.
‘I am extremely pleased to be joining the GDC on a permanent basis,’ Ian Brack said.
‘I have been struck by the commitment, dedication and enthusiasm I have witnessed at the GDC and how hard staff work to ensure we ultimately achieve our mission of protecting patients.
‘I am committed to helping the GDC rebuild trust with patients, the profession we regulate and our partners.
‘We will do this by achieving the ambitions set out in our three year road map, Patients, Professions, Partners and Performance.
‘I am very much looking forward to working with colleagues to achieving this.’
Competitive recruitment process
Before joining the GDC, Ian Brack worked as chief executive at the Office for Legal Complaints.
He has also previously led the Olympic Lottery Distributor overseeing a multi-million pound grant for the Paralympics.
‘I am delighted to announce that after a competitive recruitment process, Ian Brack has been appointed on a permanent basis to the role of chief executive at the General Dental Council,’ William Moyes, chair of the GDC, said.
‘Since he joined the GDC on an interim basis in January, Ian has brought a wealth of experience and skills to help the GDC become a high-performing, efficient regulator that puts patient and public protection at the heart of everything that we do.
‘On behalf of the council, I look forward to working with Ian to deliver what we have set out in Patients, Professions, Partners and Performance.’
